After reading
some of my classmates bio information I was eager ( I guess) to share
mine. Well, here it goes. After high school, I went
to Kent State for one or two quarters (memory fails), and so did I,
almost. Then, I joined the Navy so I wouldn't be drafted, Richard Jaques
and I were to go in together, but it didn't work out. He went into
the Navy a few months after me. We saw each other a couple of times
in Newport, RI. We then got out the Navy after about four-years and
roomed together at Rockside Towers for about a year. Luckily, our friendship
survived. I went off to work for Big Four Lumber (6 months) and he
worked for Western Electric. We continued to stay friends and in contact
with each other. All during this time, (Dean Salupo) was around and
we three did things together occasionally. I then went to work for
a residential treatment center named Bellefaire on Fairmount Blvd in
Shaker Hts, Oh. I was 25 going on 16, so I had a great time with the
adolescent males I was "supposed" to be helping. After 5-years,
I finally figured out I was suppose to be there for them and not for
me (I was always a little slow on the up-swing).
In 1974 I married my first wife and that lasted seven years without
children, we parted amicably. Before that however, I went to Tri-c,
then to Cleveland State (Social Work), and then to CWRU for a Masters
in Social Work. I have worked at two other residential treatment centers
one in, Orange Village, OH called BeechBrook (for 10-years) then my
second wife (Cathy) and I moved to Dubuque, IA with our two children
(Nathan and Hannah), they were quite young. I worked for yet another
residential treatment center, Hillcrest Family Services. We moved back
after our 5-year experiment in Dubuque, IA to be with family (for the
children and for ourselves). We moved into Chagrin Falls, Ohio in 1996
(I without having a job). However, I returned to Bellefaire again and
worked there until I got this position at Positive Education Program
(PEP), on 3100 Euclid Ave in Cleveland, I have been there almost 9-years.
Our son (Nathan is 18 & a Pole Vaulter for Chagrin Falls- he didn't
get his athletic abilities from me) he is applying for colleges (oh
what fun, as many of you already know). Our daughter Hannah is 15 and
a freshman in high school and a cheerleader. My wife and I have been
married for 21 years. She is a Special Education Coordinator for the
Jewish Orthodox School in Cleveland Hts. I converted to Judaism about
six years ago. Well, this is more then anyone bargained for, hope it
was mildly interesting.
