Ok, now for the boring stuff. I received my Bachelors in Electrical
Engineering from Ohio State (where else?) in 1969 and moved to
the Washington, DC area with my wife Patricia. I worked as a civilian
electronics engineer for the Navy department for 20 years designing
radar & aircraft landing systems for aircraft carriers. Along
the way I picked up a Masters degree from the University of California.
For the last 15 years I worked for the FAA managing the navigation
and landing systems program. Every time you step safely off an
airplane after a flight, know that my work efforts helped make
it a safer
trip for you.
My work has taken me many places around the world. I have loved
every minute of it. In 2004 I retired from the Federal government
after 35 years and have been working as a consultant doing similar
work for industry. I live in the Virginia suburbs of Washington
and work within the shadow of the Capitol. I suppose in another year
or so I’d like to really retire; thinking about someplace
warm and on the water. If you have any recommendations, let me
know.
I have a 26-year-old daughter who’s
my pride & joy. No
grandchildren yet but some day I’m sure. Is it possible that
the class of ’64 is into grandchildren and perhaps soon into
great-grandchildren? I feel young until I look in the mirror and
get rudely reminded! I try to gravitate to “toys”,
hobbies, and interests that keep me feeling young and active; boating,
fishing,
auto mechanics, scuba diving, motorcycle, Corvette, and airplane.
Yes, my career has led me into aviation as a commercial rated pilot
and airplane owner. I love the freedom and personal challenges
of flying. For those that may still remember my early interests,
I’m
still into amateur (ham) radio.
